A Poem to Robert Mitchum

We always thought that you'd be
there
To make us laugh
and cry
Though time slipped by
We never dreamed that things
would go awry
Because time never changed
that handsome face,
That certain style, that walk
and grace
That Mitchum wit
we love so well
Or here him sing Whippoorwill,
A family man, A man of pride
his childhood bride
by his side

"I like the whole togetherness of moviemaking, the ambiance , the effort implicit in the manufacture of a film. I care about that.....I really do"
Robert Mitchum, 1973
